People, not platforms.
Too often, technology ends up serving the organisation that bought it, not the person on the other end of it. We started People & Platform to close that gap, starting with the home someone lives in.
When a tenant reports a problem with their home (damp, a broken boiler, an unsafe electrical fitting), they're usually met with one of two things: a phone queue, or a form built for the landlord's system, not their situation. Too often they have to repeat themselves, chase for updates, and hope they're being believed.
In December 2020, two-year-old Awaab Ishak died as a result of prolonged exposure to mould in his family's housing association home in Rochdale. A coroner found that his death was caused by his home environment, and that the housing provider had received reports about the mould and had failed to act on them. His death led directly to Awaab's Law, a set of statutory timescales requiring social landlords to investigate and fix hazards in tenants' homes. We mention this because it is the clearest possible illustration of what happens when a concern raised by a person isn't heard, tracked and acted on by the systems meant to do exactly that. It's why compliance with housing regulations and standards generally, not one law alone, sits at the centre of how we build.
Our mission is to improve people's experience of the services they depend on, starting with their homes. That means building case management software that meets tenants where they already are, on WhatsApp, by SMS, with a photo, and gives landlords a structured, evidenced, time-bound case on the other side, so nothing reported ever quietly disappears.
Our principles
People first
Every decision starts with the person on the other end of the case: the tenant reporting a problem, and the caseworker trying to resolve it.
Accountable by design
Every case is evidenced. Every action is recorded. Compliance isn't a report you build afterwards: it's a byproduct of how the platform works.
Built for the real world
Works on any phone, on any channel a tenant already uses. No one should have to learn a new portal to report a problem with their home.
Our roadmap
Social housing
Our first product, built for housing associations, council landlords and ALMOs, available now.
Private rented sector
As the Renters' Rights Act 2025 and the extension of housing regulations, including Awaab's Law and the Decent Homes Standard, reach private rentals, we're building the product for private landlords and letting agents.
Wider public services
The same gap between people and the platforms meant to serve them shows up well beyond housing. That's where we're headed next.
